I can hear your whisper and distant mutter. I can smell your damp on the breeze and in the sky I see the halo of your violence. Storm I know you are coming.”
―Robert Fanny

Yes. I , sorry, we can feel it too. Yes. Its the mid semester week. And this might be the calm before the storm. Or maybe not. India-SA world cup match is also on you see.

Some serious posing was done for this one!

Its that time of the semester again. The playgrounds and New Sac are deserted (except the Subway there seems to be doing quite okay! ) and the library is wearing its crown of all time glory! That obviously means you don't get your favorite corner of the library and you are just forced to get that coffee and go back to your room, sweet room.

And somehow the entire lobby knows where to find the most comfortable bed and enough food to survive the lecture slides. And somehow that room happens to be mine this time. The rate at which your room fills up for the group 'studies' is how loud the music is playing in it. Amongst the tangled LAN wires, mobile and laptop chargers and the floor strewn with Coke cans and empty Lays, you are sure to find that one moment of clarity to study. The royal moment of enlightenment loudly says "Aapse nahi hona!". Or maybe not.

These group study sessions are the
best time to catch up on everything ( mostly gossip I mean ) which you have missed because all of you were too busy running around and now you are just forced to stay in with few couple of PDFs and Powerpoint presentations. You get to come across the lawyer in your friend while debating which part isn't important from the point of view of exam and should be left. And yes did I mention, this is also the time bulk orders from Jabong and Myntra are placed.

You become aware of the professor's name and sometimes profile when you finally go to their web page links to download study material. The rate of profile pictures and status updates on Facebook is quite noticeable. Even the Facebook "agle sem pakka padege" memes loses its charm. The best time to delete the embarrassing reminders of your pre -college day would be now or they are sure to resurface. You have been warned.

After all this, when you finnnaaally gather every ounce of motivation and self control to start nibbling the mountain of course left to do, a Kellogg's Chocos fight breaks out. 3 points for getting right into the mouth and 5 points for on the face. Like seriously.

When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.
― Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore

Yes we will walk out with a slightly moderated CPI. That's it!

Going back to join the chocos fight.
Chhavi :)

PS: aahhhhh, All the best for the storm?! :p

For all those who are wondering what the hell I am talking about, I am talking about the ball room dance session I recently took

Twirl around. Let your partner sweep you off your feet (literally). And then go for the perfect hollywood-y dip.

Behind the scenes its just plain, on this beat: Rotate. Fly. Dip. (and wish your partner doesn't drop you!)

When the music was playing during the final showcase, and we were all flying, rotating and dipping on perfect beats, I couldn't help but remember all those ooouch from foot stamps and aaaaaaah from the almost dropped down on the floor people during the rehearsals!!

If you really want to know a person inside out, go to ball room dance sessions with them. Not the final dance, there obviously it will all be filmy and perfect. After a few wrong stamps with your 6 inches of heels and almost kissing floor experiences, I am pretty sure you will get a fair idea what you're heading for!!

Few things to remember if you actually make it to the final dance day with the same dancing partner you started with can be to forget all the dance moves and actually enjoy the dance. All  the leading and following of past few dance sessions will smoothly sail you through the song. Smile or rather have a good laugh when you mess up the steps or miss a dip. Click crazy enough pictures (the more the angle of dip in them, the better). Dare your date to snatch somebody else's date and pretend to act all shocked when he actually does it. Dance till the very last song and then request for the Last Dance too.

And make sure your shoe doesn't bite. Even if it doesn't matches your dress.

Tending to my sore feet,

Chhavi. :)

Him: i can play guitar, drums, tabla , harmonium blah blah.
Me: *rolling eyes and thinking to myself* shadi main band bajane wala hai kya!
Goes up on the stage.
Him: I can even sing.
Me: Seriously dude?!
Starts playing guitar and singing. Quite awesome-ly.
Me: Haila! yeh toh sahi main band wala nikala!

A few months later.

At 8 'o clock on a freaking cold January morning, I call a number from my home screen.

Me: Can u like just come here in 10 for this EI Labs workshop thing.?
Him: What workshop?
Me: Just some workshop I am interested in. I think you ll be too.
Him: Okay. give me 5.

Even though I am pretty sure he might ditch, he reaches there in 15 and stays throughout the day. We (me him and Shubhangi) not only had a great day but also won that thing.

Now I dont know how our relationship metamorphosed like this so very quickly. (maybe it was because he was present at every event with his DSLR clicking pictures) . But I do know that I am lucky to have him around (not just as a photographer, that part is just a small one.! )

Apoorv, thank you for all those few amazing pictures and many not so amazing pictures that you post on Facebook without my consent, for always being ready with the background music and for being the only guy who can take a shower at 8 am and come on just a call.

You are an amazing person.

Happy Birthday. :D

PS: I am still waiting for my DSLR lessons.

PPS: Oh I almost forgot YOLO. :p

Hello. Lets start writing Chhavi. Again.

Extremely long dragging classes. Frustrating test series and even more frustrating their results. Almost daily night outs. Juggling school and coaching. Zero social life.

SNAP.

Lectures, a time where you can make up for the sleep last last night and Quora updates. Daily night outs but definitely not for studies. Lake side coffee. Fest meetings. a heaven called DC++.

SNAP!!

Just like that our worlds changed after coming to Guwahati.

Well all those rumors about life after you clear JEE and become an IITian were true afterall. Well, most of them. (the part where they say you don’t have to study at all, were not.)

Before coming here I had all the ‘normal’ expectations one has before entering college life. A big happening campus. A big hearty friend circle. Freedom of being away from home. Bad mess food. Last night studies before exams. Etc etc.

Well little did I know that I will get more than what I gambled for. The campus is bigger than I expected, friends crazier than I could have hoped for and mess food yuckier than I imagined.

It struck me. Oh my good. It has been 124 days here. Here, between the lakes and the trees and the mountains. Here, on the other side of the Brahmaputra and away from KFC and Dominos. Here,  beside the cricket field in the white box building in my room. 124 days. Went by in a jiffy, here.

What I have I learned during my few days here. Apart from that rigid body dynamics wasn’t the end to deadly physics and you don’t get part marks in EE101.

I have learned that it takes 4 minutes from my hostel to reach lecture halls. And 45 minutes to return from there to my room. Library is not a place only for studies. Effective studies can only be done on the night before the exam. You can Google on Facebook for people.  The other hostels food and coffee is always better.

Well, I have learned the whole new meaning of ‘Jugad’. Leaving in a newly established hostel catalyzed that process. Iron, hair dryers, sticky notes are much more complex devices we give them credit for. The rate at which home made food disappears is proportional to how often you leave your room door open. Also you never lend brooms, buckets, umbrellas and your new Levis jeans to anybody.

You also realize very soon, that its okay to make a fool out of yourself trying to do something new out here. You are not spared the mockery but are given credit for at least daring to attempt. Here, your idea can be small, but it has to be all yours. And you will definitely find a ‘Bond' senior, a ‘techie’ for the technical work, a ‘kalakar’ for the posters and a few ‘velle’ log for going to city to help you out in executing your idea. Also it just takes a post on IIT current junta FB group to bring in likes and comments and RTI if you even think of a scam.

It has only been one semester here. Yet, it feels like home. I am quite sure that even after four years, I will be equally amazed at how much this campus has to offer and how talented and jugadu the people are here.

Busy making memories for a lifetime.

Chhavi :)

Ohk. Mani, you finally have a place in my blog! :)
here it goes. i know you like poems with a rhyming scheme..so i ve tried my level best to do follow one. but then... you re the one who is amazing at it!

As I entered the wild deprived,
I knew not how will i survive.
I went sat down beside the indifferent predator,
For this inhumane museum i surely needed a wordly curator.
She gave me sharp killing looks,
And then went back to her pile of books.
I sat there praying,
Hoping she had easier ways to deal with who she was preying.
Little did i know that nature has it ways,
For she became the reason of my wonderful days!!
The jungle was never the same,
For the two wild souls were no longer tame.
We climbed the hills of calculus,
And the view from the top was just fabulous.
We wandered in the newton's moors,
And got drenched in the 'gyan' ke pouts.
We raced into the unending co-ordinate geometry,
And dived into the ponds of organic chemistry.
We did have many elastic collisions,
But mostly they were just optical dillusions.
Oh, the journey till now has been incredible,
For my partner in the hunt is nothing but credible.
And though the journey has not yet ended,
And the darks of fears not yet faded.
I stand no longer afraid,
for I have....You Mani??! :-p

I love you babes! Take care! :)
I don't know why but as soon as people insert the word 'favorite' in their so very curious conversations to get the other person know better...i m pushed into the ocean of thought??

How exactly can someone say that 'This' and only "this' is my favorite. period.

well say for example, my favorite colour??well what to say...i like the calming ocean blue and the sun kissed yelllow. I like the bright sexy Red and the tangy and bubbly orange. i like the devlish black and the angelic white. i like the blushing pink and the melting occur. i can't choose a favorite.

my favorite song/ movie/tv show? well this answer is surely ruled by the whims of my ever so changing moods.
on a high (not actually...here, used as a figure of speech!! :p) ...the maddest beats on my so very loud speakers are on!that actually puts my neighbours down! but then who cares?!
sad and depresses...i watch pretty woman for the nth time (range of n: 25th time to infinity) and just drown myself in the fairytale mushy mushy romance of julia's laugh and richard's charm! though i must say re runs of dawson creek also isnt that bad though they are a bit on depressing side! (dawson dosen't get joey...pacey does, so actually it's pacey's creek!! arrgh)
want some humor..what better than those saas-bahu tele soaps! yes i consider them equivalent to laughter shows. and laughter shows to horror shows.

my favorite hang out place? well what to say sometimes the coolest pub seems to be an ever dragging experience where there is nothing better to do than stare at the colored lamp shades and sometime the last bench at a lecture, with ur best friend, is the most exciting place where so many dark secrets are unveiled and ur creativity comes out at its best (am talking about the teachers caricature that you draw to entertain yourself!) !

my favorite/best friend? what are we still in kgs?? how can a single person run with you to the nearest mall and devour all those new hot stuff at pantaloons and forece you to the library to study for that so very important test?! aree "har ek friend zaroori hota hai yaar!!" :-p

well so i guess these examples are enough to get my point across your now-after-reading-the-above-part-muzzled-head that....god! u get it right??!! :o

well all i can say next time someone asks you "what is your favorite......?" please do take a dive into the ocean of thoughts!
till then
Keep choosing your favorites, for they may soon change!
chhavi :)
hmm I so love changes in my life. Not.

I don't think u're aware of  how deeply and intensely I fall in love with my comfort zone!
before you start drawing out the conclusion that I am one of those who prefer to keep to their shells and not go out experience life and live to the fullest and try new things and want their boring lifes to keep rolling on and blah blah blah.....WAIT!

it's nothing of that sort! It's just that u have to break through your shell...well in my case i need a lot of hammerings and beating up from outside finally come Out!!
well why am i writing this today...because once again i was forced to leave my nice and cozy radius of comfort and measure the sides of a square!
the square was. New.Coaching.

well if you ask a polar bear to shift to thar desert, the amount of fuzzle and muzzle he'll make is nothing as compared to i did! But the only difference between me and the poor polar bear is that i 'll survive!
Yes i know it gets better with time...but you still have to go out there for the first time!!!
aarrghh....that feeling! When you enter a room full of strangers. all 40 heads staring at you.
It Sucks. Big Time.

but then the feeling that they too are with you in this...that compensates all i guess...
And i guess mostly ( you can also read rarely!! ) , new things do quickly become old! and you don't mind being the polar bear in the desert! ...but yeah sooner or later, the bear may be asked to shift to the pacific ocean floor....
till then holding on is the only choice left to you!!

still holding on!!
chhavi!:)
Sometimes when you wonder, what went wrong??

You fail to see the answers

but deep inside your heart

you know what was that you never saw.....

Maybe it was the missing smile, which failed to tell her u've forgiven.

Maybe it was the forgotten hug, which could have reassured her that you are there.

Maybe it was the burst of ego, which stopped you from telling her how much you love her.

Or it could have been the drought of words which didnt allow u to stare into her eyes and help her find a shore.

The waves of time took it all away.....

How easily did you let it all go....

the smiles. the dreams. the hopes.

with a few words that you didnt bother to say

you broke her heart which still loved you

the autumn leaves started falling...

and while you kept waiting for the 'right moment'

the snow started falling...

leaving behind nothing...hiding the last ray of hope....

but still as you kept waiting...so did she

having faith that you ll finally see the answers

which are deep hidden in your heart but still out there. :)

ohhk.here comes's february.....for all those in love -february=valentines day!!

love is definetly in air (though all i can smell is the smell from the kitchen where mum is cooking something she saw recently on a cookery show!m so excited to taste it. Not.)

back to point.yeah love is all around.all the girls are all woozy and doozy while for guys its jst another headache to do something for their girls. that is buy them chocolates/red roses/diamonds or all....whatever fits in their budgets!!!:-p

but what about all those who are still 'single'?!! this point is a bit (actually a lot) hard to get across people (friends and family) who claim to be "madly, truly and deeply in love"!!!

here are few survival tips:-

1. JOIN THE ANTI-VALENTINE NAZI ARMY!!

well according to u valentines day should be banished from the calender. complain about the prices of red roses..which sky rocket around this time. chocolates...whickh jst make u fat nd u cn no longer fit in ur new lee jeans.or make fun of the pink teddys or cards with cheesy lines!:-p

say that love is to b celebrated all year long nd restricted to some day.

well ahm ahm....trust me guys all u re gonna get are some deadly sarcastic looks filled with hurt and pity from the people* (*refer above to know which people!!).....and just u knw that ll jst make it evident that u re 'single' and obviously not liking it!!:-

2. DEDICATE THIS DAY FULLY TO PARENTS AND FRIENDS.

well ofcourse this day is to celebrate love of all forms...be it mom dad bst friend....thtz what i feel it is by the way!

afterall they're the people you love the most!:)

no offence meant...but this the oldest trick in the book to help not to miss having that special one around and not be able to............ohk ohk i understand ur 'bhavnaye' and i wnt elaborate!!:-p

3.HIGHLIGHT THE ADVNTAGES OF BEING SINGLE!!

well is the year long drama of relationships worth it for this 'single' day which like any ordinary day has jst 24 hours?!!duh...NO!!

'i cn buy myself chocolates and roses" can be ur tagline to get through the day!:)

but then AGAIN ....the ''looks'' u get!!hwever can u survive them!:-p

4. KEEP SMILING.

smile. it makes people wonder what you are up to!!

smil.smile...and then smile again. smile when u hug ur loved ones, nd smile when u hear those mushy-mushy love stories.smile and jst let go!

and brownie points for the fact - u never know whose falling in love with that smile!!:)

so for all those who re in love....and all those who're not

wish u all *happy valentines day*!!

make the best out of it and make sure to make realise how mch u love and care for the *people* ;-) in your life!!!:)

[PS: the blog was not aimed at any real life character. and the author bears no prejudices against people in *loohhvv*....so sit bak and smile!)

signing out to find her way

chhavi:)
hmm before starting let me assure u guyz..tht all the suggestions tht follow are full proof though any damages is not the responsibility of the author!!;-)

hmm summer time...fun time! this tym 4 me...swimming tym 2!!

here follows some do's nd don'ts in a swimming pool..nd in the changing room...which wud surely help come out widout sinking self esteems!!

ohhk if u dnt swimming...jst accept it dude!!...wat follows is rather embarassing nd futile attempts to swim....bt trust me u cn survive..:-)

if u a learner...stop noticing people arnd..coz they r experts in giving u lookz tht will mke u wish tht u cud really sink in a 4 feet pool...!!stupid fellows...no pity 4 us...dnt they remember thr 1st swimming lessons!!

if ur coach tells u 2 jump into 10 feet of water depth....jst do it!!dnt whine or complain!!
coz u luk far mre stupid when u re pushed widout ur concern...nd u cum up gasping fr breath!!

nd oh...people inside pool nd people outside pool are different!!!

nd never...never...imagine those big smelly sweaty hairy bodies frm gym jumping into the pool without a shower!!

bt yeah once u're a pro...u cn surely take all ur revenges!!
ps: swimmig caps nvr help...no matter hw hard u try...u're sure 2 cum out with dripping wet hair!!

so gud luck nd enjoy...
luuckily still floating...
chhavi!!:-)
